The November 17, 1966 by Ordinance 003 of the Departmental Assembly of Meta, was elevated to the category of municipality entire region. Vista Hermosa was founded on April 13, 1964 by immigrant settlers Arroyabe Ramon, Pedro Enrique Angulo, Ernesto and Christopher Oliveros Loaiza. Initially the place was known as Puerto Dulce. It was a place of rest or inn who traveled between San Juan de Arama and colonization on Guejar river. Development and population growth was very fast, and they found land suitable for agriculture and livestock. It based on their population growth, is elevated to the status of Police Inspectorate town of San Juan de Arama in 1968. Its name is derived from the place of today's urban areas, where you have a very beautiful sight on the Serrania de La Macarena and Guejar vegas river. The November 29, 1969, Vista Hermosa is elevated to the status of town by Order 019 of the Departmental Assembly of Meta.
