The first settlers were the Bituimas Viani Panche of the Nation. Viani say was the name of a chief of this place which translates to "Golden Summit", but this version is not confirmed.

The place where today is located the town of Viani, Hacienda de las Tapias which was owned by Mrs. Rosalie called Millán de Bonilla, who shall change his son Ferdinand E. M. Bonilla, who was in possession of some land in the Bituima Township (which is today known as Path of The Volcano). Fernando Bonilla wanted Emiliano Millan found in these lands a new
