ial","sans-serif""="" lang="EN-US">In the thirties Coveñas becomes the first petroleum-exporting port in the country with the establishment of the dock and facilities of South American Gulf Oil Company -SAGOC-, which connects to a pipeline with production sites in Tibu. In the middle of this century, sea valuation as attractive for tourism and existence in the Gulf of Morrosquillo natural conditions for this purpose, make Tolu in resort.

The breakdown of the beaches on the one hand, the increase of the activities, and the search for other direct contact with the sea, make any land is suitable for fitting to tourism. Thus was born the conurbation Tolu-Covenas.
