Santa Rosa was founded in the year l540 by Alonso Ramirez de Orellana and given the name "Angle" was inhabited by Indians and Alipayas Tahamíes Indians. In 1945 by resolution of the city council Simiti honorable, I choose to change the old name "Angle" by the Santa Rosa leaving the village of Santa Rosa de Simiti.
