First settlers and founding

The first settlers of the territory occupied by the town of San Vicente were indigenous people belonging to ethnic Witoto , Koreguaje and Tama , who survived until the early twentieth century in much of the current department of Caquetá .

The area now occupied by San Vicente began to be frequented between 1880 and 1895 by people who came from the interior of the country, attracted by the operation of the machine . The town was founded on September 27 of 1897 by Juan
