"In late 1549, the Spanish captains, Juan de Maldonado Alonso and Pedro de los Hoyos, co-Don Pedro de Ursua and OrtĂșn Velasco Velasquez, a tribe belonging to the great family of Chitareros presented with forty (40) men, six (6) hunting dogs and two (2) horses.

They fled terrified Borrero caves, situated a short distance, as the Indian Village was located under "La Laguna" boundary between Pamplona and Pamplonita today.
