Mining

The basement of the municipal jurisdiction, was not endowed by nature wonders and much speculated without much grip on the existence of mineral deposits for the industry, product samples except irrelevant as gypsum, alum, lime sand, in some sidewalks. No studies have been done to warrant geological claim otherwise.

Commerce

Primarily consisting of a small internal marketing of all kinds of products, especially the agricultural line, maize, wheat, barley, peas, vegetables and fruits packaging sisal and straw hats.

The exchange traded products, general merchandise are made with great movement centers like grass, IPIALES and Cali.

Thus we have developed a small local trade resulting shops and stores, bakeries and cafes.

One of the most exploited sources throughout the border region in which we are engaged is the small market town of TULCAN, in Ecuador, of which brings variety of items from toys, food products, liquor, groceries and everything related with costumes and leather. This fluctuating winds up as the two currencies on the one hand that the general weight was harder than Sucre, and for long periods is not invested the strengths of the economy ruining small investors.

This situation prevalent in the Colombian economy enabled the sustenance of the family economy in Guaitarilla and surrounding towns, including students organized their trips
