The central government gave its approval shortly thereafter. The population was erected with 1824 inhabitants, thus beginning the civil life of the new municipality of Girardot. It was the time when the creation of parish amounted to turn in district erection. (The same case Caramanta and other districts). Meanwhile the vicar Fr. José Miguel de la Calle issued the decree ratifying the erection in 1834 . Ordinance 37 of 29 April 1912 made an amendment to provide that the name would be to Girardot but Ordinance 18 of April 11 of the following year, 1913 provided that: "Since the publication of this Ordinance the Township Girardot is officially called Girardota
