About the increase in mining operations, were formed villages around, including Rosario Lajas in 1745, hamlet that was very important in the colonial times.



The Spaniards found years later richest mine, so the population transfer occurs to form the village of Santana de Lajas. Later the mines were taken over by the British who exploited them to exterminate them.

By National Law No. 44 of 1875, the Nation gave to Santana 100 hectares of land for its inhabitants and an area to the population and money for those who wanted to establish there. In August 1885 a fire destroyed it in its entirety.



By Ordinance No. 47 of May 2, 1930, the Departmental Assembly changed the name of Santana by Falan, in memory of Diego Fallon, its most famous son.
