"House of the Sun" in the beginning of the conquest had dragged the ambitious spirit of the conquerors. "

According to historian Miguel Duran Duran, the Indians had Oporomas as the place of worship 'The Sun', a name which has remained closed over time, corresponding to a site located in front of the municipal seat.

At the end of the sixteenth century, most of the territory had been populated Norte de Santander in its main natural axes. The way to penetrate the Indian regions was the encomienda and the convent.
