In a report written in 1806 by a Franciscan religious, it is reported to the village with the name of San Antonio de Cabuyaro, available to church and rectory and the Indians who lived 166. Subsequently, according to an official population census conducted in 1851 was counted 127 inhabitants.

One feature of this town is being rebuilt four times over time as a result of accidental fires caused by direct action and other violence. Thus, the final destruction occurred intentionally in 1951, leaving standing only the girls' school, the house of Don Ignacio Avila and the walls of the rectory.

The first settler in the fourth village life, begun in 1953, was Don Bartolomé García, then came Mr. Felipe Nieto and Hernandez Leocadio, all built their homes. The following year the Municipality of Meta purchase a newly built by Luis Piñeros, in order to locate there the intendant Corregidura property. The population begins to enjoy power in 1956 thanks to the power plant that was installed there.

Finally, Ordinance No. 20 of November 27, 1962 created the town of Cabuyaro. His legal life begins on 1 July of the following year.
