ang="EN-US">By Rionegro Constitution in 1863 the administrative divisions of Boyacá suffered various modifications and according to Law 10 of the same year adopted a new division into six departments: Casanare, Tundama, North, West, East and Central. The Constitution of 1886, centralist, divided the country into departments, provinces and municipalities in the provinces; 12 Law 68 of 1890 yielded to Boyacá Vasquez territory (now Puerto Boyacá), the provinces were abolished in 1911 by Decree Executive No. 306 and Executive Order No. 306 of 1911, several municipalities were segregated will be the station Arauca , then the municipalities belonging to the quartermaster formed Orinoquía Casanare , and its newly annexed territory in Boyacá department 1950 . In the year of 1973 were segregated again these municipalities to form the current territory. 13

In Boyacá were born eight presidents of the Republic of Colombia:

José Joaquín Camacho (1814 - 1815), born in Tunja .

José Ignacio de Márquez (1832, 1837-1841), in Ramiriquí .

Santos Acosta (1867 - 1868), in Miraflores .

Santos Gutierrez (1868 - 1870), in The Cocuy .

Sergio Camargo (1877, Acting) at Iza .

Rafael Reyes Prieto (1904 - 1909), in Santa Rosa de Viterbo ,

Enrique Olaya Herrera (1930 - 1934), in Guateque ,
