century , at a place then called "Mina Vieja" , beside the Dolores River. After some "coming and going" to and from other sheds river, always in search of metal, some residents were left permanently on the banks of the Dolores River and the settlement began to progress. Time passed until 1814 when the government of Antioquia , under the dictatorship of Juan del Corral erected in town calling this community San José de Amieta .

Later, this name would be changed to that of San José de Angostura , and finally ended up calling the fashion people simply "Angostura", as it is known today.
