The municipality of Villa Alemana born under the rail and has the honor of having, at the dawn of the Chilean railway development, mild climate is so benign, that the slogan that is characterized "by its climate, the youth is not afraid old age. Aging in Villa Alemana lives in eternal youth. "

Villa Alemana before being named in this way was nothing but fields. There was a small vineyard, many trees and flowers and what prevailed was the hawthorn. Where today stands the Teatro Pompeii were offered at 20 cents a foot of ground. And that's where Don Buenaventura Joglar had the idea to buy land and build a population which named as Villa Alemana because the Germans were the first to buy these sites. However, many of them built or lived here, most sold and left.

On November 8 of 1894 , was founded with the name of Vi�a Miraflores . The land was owned by Don Buenaventura Joglar , who lote� and set the name of Villa Alemana .

In 1907 Nicholas Lasnibat Barbaruz native of South Slavic areas of Europe subsequently created Yugoslavia, founded the population " Lasnibat ".

On January 5 of 1918 establishing a commune of Villa Alemana , but in 1928 it was incorporated into Quilpu� . On June 7 of 1933 , Villa Alemana definitely separates Quilpu� commune, creating the commune of Villa Alemana. Until 1982 the commune had just over 55,000 inhabitants.

In 1992 Villa Alemana exceeded 77,000. In 2002 was close to 100,000 and now its real estate growth has boosted its population development, so that it would exceed 150. 000 people.
