 Jesuit Hacienda

 Found information on the existence of a former Jesuit Hacienda in Curauma. This property was purchased by the Society of Jesus in 1672 and remained in power until his expulsion from Chile in 1767 

Twentieth Century

In modern times, there's Caleta de Quintay, circa 1900 , when they lie first temporarily and then permanently, fishermen from the coves of Algarrobo , The Quisco and Valparaiso , and there arise the first families to know , Araya Marin, Marin Campos, Bernal Sepulveda, Farias Gamboa, Concha Romero, Sep�lveda Mar�n, etc. 4 Upon discovering that the place was good for fishing began to populate families living in very poor conditions, developing fisheries and shellfish harvesting.Between 1917 and 1930, came a more important number of people migrating from different places of the country, giving rise to the present population of Quintay. In 1943 there is starting to Plant Whaling activities culminating in 1967.

Whaling
