This climate is located east of the Cordillera de la Patagonia, extending from the Cordillera del Paine to the south and southeast, covering the Brunswick Peninsula and the south of Tierra del Fuego.
Precipitation decreases sharply in relation to the western slopes of Patagonia and channel region, as air masses arrive with little moisture content after crossing the Andean peaks, resulting in a landscape of type steppe . They occur throughout the year, but its annual amounts are around 250 to 400 mm, or 10% of the records from the west coast. The distribution of rainfall during the year is approximately homogeneous, but can identify the fall months (April and May) as the wettest. A second peak may occur between November and January. In the winter rainfall is almost entirely of snow.
The continentality makes finding temperatures generally mean annual fall of 6 C to 7 C. In turn, increase the temperature ranges: the annual is about 9 C to 10 C. Despite the latitude, winter temperatures are not excessively low, because the average temperatures of the winter months are greater than 1 C, so that remaining snow-covered soil is not very long in the most low near the sea. The average minimum temperatures themselves are below 0 C between June and August.
Another feature of this climate is the persistent wind from the southwest and west, with an average intensity of 15 to 20 km / h. During the summer season, there are frequent strong winds, where the average speed is 120 km / h or more
