Goris is a city in the
southern Syunik Province of Armenia. Located in the valley of river Goris (or
Vararak), it is about 240 km away from the Armenian capital Yerevan and
70 km from the provincial centre Kapan. Goris is an urban community and
the 2nd largest city in Syunik province. The National Statistical Service of
the Republic of Armenia (ARMSTAT) reported its population was 23,022 in 2010,
down from 23,261 at the 2001 census.
