Culture of Worcester MA

JuteVilla
Much of Worcester culture is synonymous with Boston and New England culture. Like most of the state, the city has a non-rhotic accent subtly different than the Boston accent. The pronunciation of the city’s name is famously mispronounced by people unfamiliar with the city. As in Worcester, England the name is properly pronounced "WOO-ster" contrary to the spelling. Many local residents pronounce the city’s name "WOOS-tah" or "WIS-tah."

Worcester has many traditionally ethnic neighborhoods, including Quinsigamond Village (Swedish), Shrewsbury
