Ibiza (in Catalan and officially Eivissa) is a municipality in the autonomous community of Balearic Islands, Spain. It is the capital city of the island of the same name. It is located in the eastern part of the island of the same name. Its economy is predominantly falls within the service sector, with the tourism industry and small businesses, as fundamental. Given its principal city, Ibiza assumes the duties of a capital, offering many of its services to other municipalities of the island. It hosts the headquarters of the Island Council of Ibiza (island governing body similar to the council’s canaries).

The port of Ibiza, located in a natural bay, is the main access by sea to the city and in turn is the main entrance, next to the airport, to the entire island
