city in South Korea, with a 2010-established population of 1,089,039. It encompasses a land area of 743 square kilometres (287 sq mi) on the southeastern coast of South Korea. In 209(Naehae 14) Three Kingdoms period Changwon was named Gulja-gun, its a province of Silla, in 757(Gyeongduk 16) Changwon has renamed Uian-gun that Silla has reorganize all province of Silla.

In Joseon period, Changwon-bu established in 1408(Taejong 8) by King Taejong, And in 1415(Taejong 15), Changwon-bu renamed Changwon-dohobu(The Capital of Gyeongnam province) by King Taejong.

In 1974, Changwon city planning district April 1, 1974 'Industrial Base Development Area No. 92' notices designated as Changwon industrial base has been developed as part of the development plan.
