There are now new direct buses to Huacachina from Cusco, Arequipa, Nazca, Paracas and Lima called Peru Hop. They can bring you straight into Huacachina, and are the only bus transport company that can do this as the rest of the bus transport companies take you to Ica to their terminals. Peru Hop is a tourist only bus and therefore can drop you to the door of any hostel you want.

Getting to Ica is easy from Lima, as most bus companies including Cruz del Sur and Soyuz have frequent trips along the route.
