By Air:
The nearest airport to Pahalgam is Srinagar Airport (SXR) at about 95 kms and takes about 2 hours travel time by road due to the mountainous topography of the place. At Srinagar one can get connecting flights to the rest of the country frequently as Srinagar is a tourism-centered city. Daily flights ply between Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi, and Mumbai. Pre-paid taxis are available at the Srinagar airport apart from shared taxis, and State-run (J&K SRTC) buses which take about 2 hours to reach Pahalgam. Taxis plying between Srinagar Airport and Pahalgam charge between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 4000 depending on the season.
By Rail:
The nearest railhead to Pahalgam is in Srinagar (Code SINA) at 95 kilometres from Pahalgam. You would have to take a train till Srinagar and then take a government or private bus or taxi or shared-taxi to Pahalgam. Via Srinagar, Pahalgam connects to the rest of the country through frequent trains.
Alternatively, Pahalgam may be reached via Jammu Tawi Railway Station at 315 kms. Jammu is connected to other parts of the country on broad gauge. Several passenger trains ply from various parts of the country to Jammu and one can reach Jammu overnight from New Delhi. Just outside the Jammu Railway Station, State-run buses and private buses and taxis are available to transport tourists to Pahalgam. It takes about 8 hours travel time between Jammu and Pahalgam.
By Road:
The Kashmir Valley is connected by road through the National Highway 1A from Jammu and from NH 1A Pahalgam may be reached via Khanabal or Bijbehara. State-run and private buses ply on these routes at fixed timings regularly.
Bus Route:
