The climate of Orchha or Urchha is marked by the sweltering heat of the summers and the cool winters. The nondescript town whose nomenclature means 'hidden' in the local dialect was established as a powerful kingdom in the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh by the Bundela Chieftain Rudra Pratap Singh.

The erstwhile princely state of Orchha spans across the the latitudinal meridian of 25 degrees 35 minutes North on one hand and the longitudinal meridian of 78 degrees 64 minutes on the other. A landlocked town, Orchha weather reports state that the town records a maximum temperature of 47.7 degrees centigrade in the scorching summers. The minimum temperature to be recorded during summer is 24.9 degrees centigrade. Winters however are much cooler and the mercury dips quite low. The average winter temperature in Orchha varies between 24.5 degrees centigrade and 9.1 degrees centigrade. The terrains of Orccha suffer from an acute paucity of rainfall. Orchha receives scanty rainfall of an average of 40 inches (101.6 cm) rainfall annually from the southwest monsoon rains. Orchha also receives negligible precipitation throughout the year
