Bhimavaram is a prominent town mandal in the West Godavari District in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Bhimavaram is also called the "Second Bardoli of India". Mahatma Gandhi coined the name when he visited the town during the freedom movement in India. It is one of the Pancharamas(Somaramam) in AP state, as it has Someswara Swami temple. Statewide popular " Mavullamma temple " is located in the town. It is also known for its statewide renowned educational institutes like S.R.K.R Engineering College, B. V. Raju Engineering College and D. N. R College Association, and also famous for its hospitals. It is the Aqua capital of the coastal area.Bhimavaram Town is a shopping hub in the district for products like Jewellary , Cloth, Seafood, Electronics, etc.

The town is dominated by a major group of people (Kshatriyas), known for their lavish spending culture. Bhimavaram is a business and trade center for aqua and paddy business and a prime center for commerce and business. It is a fully developed education center with many education institutions. The population of Bhimavaram town is apporximately 2 lakhs and is divided into 39 wards geographically. It has been upgraded as a selection grade Municipality. It is an epicenter of district political activities, facilitated with all Regional offices. It is a town where the per capital income is high. It produces rich aqua wealth (mainly fresh water fish and prawns) in our country and it is next to Cochin (a major seaport city in Kerala state of India abundant with rich aqua wealth).

Bhimavaram is connected to by road and rail to all major cities. It has two railway stations (junction and town stations) and a bus station with a bus depot with several fleet of buses. It has train facility connected to metropolitan cities, such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkota and connected with a train to temple city "Tirupathi". The Nearest AirPort is Rajahmundry (nearly 90.k.m)
