The municipality has a population of 9,083 (30 September 2012) and covers an area of 1,141.31 square kilometers (440.66 sq mi) of which 275.61 km2 (106.41 sq mi) is water. The population density is 10.49 inhabitants per square kilometer (27.2 /sq mi)
