Humlebaek was originally a fishing village , whose history can be traced back to the 1500s. In 1682 talked fishing hamlet of 7 houses that were parallel to the coast on the foreshores bottom of a coastal cliff. Fishing was predominantly a state fishing as fish hives lay off the coast. As time grew Humlebaek, and there was a group of "free" fishermen and thus a contradiction to state fishermen. In 1903 formed "Association of the free Fishermen of 1903" that included fishermen from Espergærde , Humlebæk and plain. Eventually Humlebaek fishermen their own association.

A school was Humlebæk in 1792 in the house Old Strandvej 87 that still exist. Before that time they had 2 fish tenant's children sought Equestrian School in Dageløkke .

23rd July 1700 went Swedish troops landed in Humlebaek, which led to Denmark's exit from the first phase of the Great Northern War
