September 1897 in Kisangani. The Northern Provinces of the République
Démocratique du Congo is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic; Roman Catholic
Archdiocese of Kisangani (Latin: Kisanganien(sis)) is the Metropolitan See for
the Ecclesiastical province of Kisangani in the République Démocratique du
Congo (RDC) . Kisangani Suffragan Sees include the areas of Bondo, Bunia, Buta,
Doruma – Dungu, Isangi, Isiro – Niangara, Mahagi – Nioka and Wamba. Marcel
Utembi Tapa is the current Archbishop of Kisangani, since 28 November 2008.
Due to the percentile of non-European cultures, there is a
diversity of non-Christian religions. Islam maybe the largest non-Christian
group, There are small communities of Jews and Hindus who work in commercial
urban areas
