class="MsoNormal">Zarzal is one of the largest municipalities in sugarcane production in the country, thanks to the department's rich agricultural land of the sugar mills as Castilla Riopaila candy factory and Colombina SA . The land is flat Zarzaleño mostly features the "laughed the pan" which flows into the Rio Cauca which is bordering with the municipality Roldanillo .

Villages of Zarzal: 

La Paila (the largest township of Valle del Cauca and possibly the entire country),Vallejuelo and Quebradanueva , major, followed in smaller territorial dimension:Lemons , El Alisal , Guasimal and El Vergel .

The Virgin of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes ( Our Lady of Mercy ), is the protector of the Municipality
