Zapayán is a village in the Department
of Magdalena , Colombia , the first settlers were the Chimilas. Following
an order of settlement, the settlement began when some farmers of the coastal
population of Oak Bolivar in 1800 approx. began building their first homes
on the banks of the swamp zapayán. as is the youngest municipality in the
department, acquired its administrative and political category by ordinance
