The village that Ventaquemada was called, in the year 1776, by decree given by the Viceroy MANUEL ANTONIO FLOREZ, authorized its establishment as a parish assigned as the first pastor Priest AUGUSTINE GUEVARA, the same Viceroy in 1777 erected by decree parish in town, as first mayor appointed Mr. FRANCISCO CORREA.
