Like all peoples of the government of Cartagena, Tolu joined the independence movement, (1811-1815) mortally wounded by Morillo peacekeeping expedition from the mouth of the Orinoco to the Gulf of Darien . Tolu again undergo Fernando VII, who at that time was still "Desire". Since 1819 Tolú again be free.
