style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:" arial","sans-serif""="">The new town was founded by order of September 21, 1593 by the Magistrate Miguel de Ibarra, accompanied by the scribe Alonso Gonzalez. In 1600 he visited the Magistrate Luis Enriquez Tocancipá who have found them scattered reiterated by order Ibarra of them settle in the place demarcated by adding those of Sopo, Cueca, Mousa and Gachancipá, and on July 15 with the mason hired Juan de Robles the construction of the church.

On 4 August 1758 the prosecutor visited Tocancipá Joaquin Escoto Aróstegui and found a total of 776 Indians, almost all dedicated to making pots for processing and transport of salt and Nemocón Zipaquirá. By order of August 11, 1758-Hospital founded the House for the Indians. By order of the President Dionisio Pérez Manrique of September 24, 1747 Spread the Tocancipá and had since 1657 a contract manufacturing pottery
