Founded in 1985 as a township Vaupes,
elevated to the status of municipality according Ordinance No.022 of November
27, 1992, issued in the year 1995 by the Departmental Assembly. The formation
and population growth Municipality gave the Bonanza gold situation that
generated a great migration from various regions of Colombia and neighboring
Brasil
