Socota was founded by Gonzalo
Sanchez de Flanders, in 1536 for being the person to whom Mr. Enriquez
commissioned to organize this people and this gentleman with the help of
indigenous and missionary priests built a church and around it form the main
square and then get sideways streets, ie into the shape of village that looked
like the people they had left behind in Spain
