There are two versions about the origin of its name. Some historians claim that Sativa is derived from Xativa , Spanish region where the founder of the town of Josefa Brown, who gave the name to the village to remember and perpetuate the name of his country was born. Others associate the name with the prehispanic words "Sa" enlightened person "Tiva".
