Better known as the corn capital of Colombia. This municipality located southwest of the Colombian territory, was founded on December 24, 1535 (current municipality of Florence) with the main protagonist Mr. Miguel Muñoz, Sebastian lieutenant advance Belalcázar and Juan de Palomino or Ampudia. The plateau of Merchants, was a market exchange between Aboriginal, Native Bolivar with its main gold product and Arboleda with salt and agricultural products of hot weather, so it derived its name Merchants (bartering).
