This town is named after one of the indigenous settlements located on the banks of the Magdalena River Aboriginal comprised Ondaimas , which together with the Gualies occupied the area of the present town of Honda.  The Spanish named it Villa de San BartolomĂ© and then were given nicknames such as "The City of Bridges" for having more than forty bridges over the rivers Magdalena , GualĂ­ , Guarino and Quebrada Seca . It is also called
