Cértegui, as almost all the people of
Chocó, initially arose with the construction of a few houses of straw, about a
mining camp, under the direction of Matthias Tres Palacios in the early
eighteenth century in 1775, who by the circumstances appears as the founder of
what is now the municipality of Cértegui. The history of Cértegui is partly
linked to that name and Palacios, whose main trunk surnames comprising
families: Andrew, Luke, Juan de la Cruz, Juan Pablo, Maria Encarnacion,
Salvador, Francisco, Carlos, Miguel de los Santos, Jeremiah Juan Jose
Nepomuceno Palacios, which have evolved
