It appears that since 1852 the inhabitants of the village sought to be elevated to the status of parish district. So, at least, is clear from a document of 1864 prepared by the council where the legislative body then appointed Parish judge to call witnesses who can provide information to clearly establish "who or who had given the land to the population , whose authority had been involved in the founding, many streets and what width to be determined. " To answer this interrogation were called Messrs. Gabriel Pelaez, Matthew Aristizabal, Ramon Duque Gomez and Jesus. They replied that Parish Judge "who had sold the lots and had given the land for the temple, the square and the streets had been the Lord Jesus Duque, who were not involved in the foundation but the will of the neighbors, that
