" Then in 1773 , he founded the Parish of Anza . When finished building the temple of the parish this building was dedicated to the cult of St. Francis of Assisi , and because of that fact, the original name of the region, " Cauca Upstream "was replaced by that of San Francisco de Anza .

Anza is one of the oldest municipalities of Antioquia , and was one of the largest, to the point that the old Anza regions comprising more than six existing municipalities.
