Captain Pedro de Alvarado, in 1540, by order of Don Sebastián de Belalcázar, looking for a complete peace of calucaymas, ventured through the lands of cacique cay, the panche domains tribe presented the Spanish conquistador reñidísimas battles, from what is now the salt to the border with the town of stones, resulting in the ultimate triumph of that captain and the incorporation of an existing village even annexation plan and domain all these wing crown lands. A devastating fire completely destroyed the town in 1889, leaving as head above Cayma district, according ordinance n. 6 June 22, 1904,
