The story goes back to the creek to the 18th century when it was founded as a village of Indians, under the name of. San Blas de Llico. taking over its history a permanent link with farming and artisanal fisheries.

In May 1960, the town was hit by a tsunami caused by an earthquake, which destroyed almost the entire town. This phenomenon, unfortunately, 50 years later, he repeated the February 27, 2010, which occurred in the south-central Chile earthquake of magnitude 8.8 on the Richter scale, damaging this time approximately 50 % of the town. Fortunately both times Llico inhabitants after the respective earthquakes, took refuge in the nearby hills, preventing further deaths, recorded in February 2010, only the death of an older adult.

Currently, the resort maintains an emergency camp that is home to residents who were affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami.
