Zavidovići was developed by the Austrians during the Austro - Hungarian reign in Bosnia, mostly because of the wood industry. After World War II, the wood industry in Zavidovići, the company named after one of the rivers "Krivaja" (founded 1884), expanded. The company focused on furniture manufacturing, which it began to export to US under a name "Krivaja Beech brook". Due to the Bosnian war, the former giant and the town are left with almost nothing
