By car
By car, it is a very long drive from Perth or Broome (1270 km), or an extremely long drive to Darwin (3400 km).
By plane
Learmonth Airport (LEA) is a dual use RAAF base and civil airport 37km south of Exmouth.
Skywest fly at least daily to Perth, some flights have a stop in Monkey Mia. QantasLink also flies direct from Perth.
The car hire companies charge an additional fee of about $70-80 to drive a car out to the airport for you (although you only pay this once, even if you pick up and drop off at the airport). Daily free kilometre allowance ranges from 100 to 150, and is surprisingly easy to use up especially if you detour to Coral Bay. Alternatively there is a shuttle bus to Exmouth for $25pp which meets each flight - shuttles to Coral Bay are also available but must be arranged in advance.
The airport terminal itself is bright and modern, and has a licenced cafe open for departing flights, and a small souvenir shop attached to it.
Don't count on mobile phone reception at the airport when you arrive.
By bus
Greyhound offer service to Perth and Broome 5 days a week. Buses top at the visitor centre.
Several "backpacker" buses also stop in town
